Mission

The Institute’s core objectives are the development of academic research in Eastern and Western Art History and the education of first-rate graduates by providing them with thorough knowledge in Eastern and Western art history, a competence of critical judgment, a refinement of taste, and global perspectives. We want to enable students to promote the appreciation of art and commit themselves to the conservation of cultural heritage.

The GIAH is dedicated to the education of preeminent young academics, who after graduation get the choice either to directly enter professional life or search further qualification by following a doctoral studies program in Taiwan or abroad.

We pay utmost attention to high-quality research, which results in a wide range of publications, conferences and projects. We cooperate with globally leading universities, excellent research institutions and museums in the country and abroad.
